The Mom Community

We’re convinced that moms are some of the most powerful creatures on the planet. What is the word people use to define powerful things? It is ‘the mother’… the mother of all storms, the mother of all traffic, the mother lode. To be a mother is to be a force of nature, but that doesn’t mean it should be done alone.

MomCo is a non-profit organization that encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women and leaders, in relationship with Jesus and in partnership with the local church.

MomCo — then, simply known as MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) — was founded in 1973 when seven women in Colorado invited moms to meet regularly to grow together as women, parents and leaders, with the ultimate goal of reaching women with the hope of Jesus.

Today, the small gathering they called MOPS now extends to 110+ countries, 30 languages, and 82,000+ meetings a year, influencing over 3 million moms annually.

I felt so isolated staying at home with two young children; one has special needs. Finding MomCo was a Godsend of support and new friends. I loved the educational pieces that are completely relevant. It’s a non-judgmental space to be real about the highs and lows of parenting.

FAQ

We Know You Might Be Wondering...

Here are answers to questions we hear most often, because we want you to feel completely comfortable joining us.

Do I need to be a member of the Church to participate?

Not at all! Shepherd's Fold is open to families from all backgrounds and faiths. Whether you're a longtime church member, new to our church, or simply looking for a quality preschool with a Christian atmosphere, your child is welcome here.

What will my child learn about faith?

We teach children that God created them, loves them, and has a special book called the Bible. Faith is woven naturally into our day through Bible stories, songs, and prayer. We model Christian values like kindness, sharing, and respect. Parents of all faiths are welcome, and we're always happy to discuss how faith is integrated into our program.

Is my child ready for preschool?

If your child is 4 or 5 years old by September 1, they're ready for Shepherd's Fold! We meet children where they are developmentally. Some kids walk in confident and independent, while others need a little more time to adjust. Our teachers are experienced at helping all children feel comfortable and successful.

What is the teacher-to-student ratio?

Our small class sizes allow teachers to give individualized attention to each child. Our qualified staff meets all Illinois state licensing requirements and has the education and experience to nurture young learners.
