AN
OUTREACH MOMENT
Every person is on
a spiritual journey!
Are you traveling with anyone at the moment? |
|
A CoJourner: a
person who comes alongside others in their spiritual journey to help
them come to Christ. In our last FOCUS I mentioned that there are
four different roles that you may be called to take on as a CoJourner.
The first role that we began looking at was that of the Explorer.
An Explorer is one who journeys into unknown territory to learn and
understand. We explore primarily through listening and asking
questions, with genuine interest and concern. These are related to our
“travel tips” that included praying for those around you, “exploring” to
find out if they have any spiritual background, and then finding out if
they have any spiritual interest right now. Exploring is essential to
being a CoJourner, and this is why it is important that we add
just a few more “travel tips” to being an Explorer before we move on to
being a Builder.
TRAVEL TIPS AS YOU EXPLORE: PART 3
Carrying the Right Tools:
-
Choose a question to ask a
number of people in your sphere of influence.
-
Questions that may be of
help as you get started:
- How important is religion to you now?
- Do you believe God exists? Why or why not?
- Is it possible to know God in a personal way?
- On a scale of 1-10, how seriously would you say that you have tried
to know God?
- Do you believe heaven and hell exist?
- How does God determine who goes to each place?
- Who do you think Jesus was?
- If you were to die tonight, how sure are you that you would have
eternal life? Why?
- What barriers keep you from trusting God?
Remember, we explore
primarily through listening and asking questions, with
genuine interest and concern. It is the Spirit of God who convicts
people of their sin and draws them to Christ. It is our role to walk in
the Spirit, ask questions, listen, and try to discern how the Holy
Spirit wants to use us in the lives of those around us. May we explore
with great anticipation what God will do as we come alongside others and
become CoJourners in their lives.
Happy Exploring, Pastor Matt |
